Now that we're all crying and sobbing, I'll tell you the story about why I feel like the gentleman who paid for the shoe's the boy in the song was buying.
Yesterday, like every other day, we had several regular customers in and out during the day. At one point, two of our very precious regular customers were in the waiting room at the same time and began to chat for a while. One is a 20ish year old boy from one of the sweetest families you'll ever meet, and the other is one of our very sweet elderly ladies. What all happened during their waiting room conversation, I'm not sure, but at some point, they must have been talking about Christmas plans because she confessed to him that she doesn't have any family here.
Well, today, the sweet boy called the shop and I immediately thought we forgot to put an oil sticker on the windshield. But, I was wrong. He wanted to know if I remembered the elderly lady who was here at the same time as him yesterday. He began to tell me about their conversation, and that he wanted to invite her to HIS FAMILY CHRISTMAS so she wouldn't be alone! I'm pretty sure we violated some form of laws when we gave him her name and phone number, but there was absolutely NO way I was not going to after that. I cried, y'all. With homeboy on the phone. I let a big "awwwww" and cried. (no, i am not turning into my big sister. i refuse.) I made sure to tell him that was the sweetest thing I'd heard all season and thanked him for being so kind.
Seriously, THAT is being the hands and feet of Jesus. Inviting a total stranger into your home to celebrate a special family holiday is the epitome of selflessness. And that, my friends, is the real reason for the season.
Happy Friday!!
