I can't breathe!
That's the sentence I've been screaming for a week now. Ever since Georgia decided to turn into the North Pole last week, I've been sick. Stuffy and runny nose, itchy eyes, sore throat, coughing non stop, etc. I thought last weekend, I was getting better but no such luck. I think I'm actually getting worse. This also means that I can't hold the new baby until I'm better. I think that's really the worst part about this whole thing. I've been popping Vitamin C drops, cough drops, and DayQuil like they're going out of style. I've even been drinking OJ everyday and I really don't like OJ.
I don't tend to "rest" aside from sleeping at night, so I called in sick one day during the week I've been sick to actually stay in bed and rest. I watched more episodes of Friends that I care to admit, I slept, I read blogs, and just did absolutely positively nothing. And it was nice. My co-worker has now decided she's "sick", too. So there must be an epidemic. (really she's just a hypochondriac that has to be sick if someone else is)
I'm pretty sure the bipolar nature of this lovely Georgia weather is the cause of my sickness. Last week, it got down into the teens. I'm not sure the last time I recall temps quite that low here in the deep South. Of course on Sunday it was back in the upper 50's and felt warm in the sun. Then for the rest of this week, we're dipping back down into the 20's. It's seriously the most annoying part of living here. One day you need a heavy coat and the next you need shades and flip flops. B.I.P.O.L.A.R.
I really don't mind the cold. I love it, actually. But, the problem with cold weather in the South is that we don't know how to dress for it. We don't really have winter clothes, per say. We've got summer clothes and fall/spring clothes. They can all be interchanged with each season by adding or removing a cardigan, usually. Sun dresses? Add a cardigan. (and tights.) Short sleeves? Add a cardigan. Sleeveless? Add a cardigan. But, if it's 16 degrees outside, we need more than a dadgum cardigan to do the trick. Add a scarf you say? Yeah, we could, but the ones we wear here are not for warmth, they're used as an accessory. An extra pop for your outfit, if you will. I only own maybe three long sleeves shirts. Three. And one is a t-shirt. (and we all know I don't like to wear t-shirts.)
So, my basic dilemma is that I don't know how to dress cute for cold winter weather. And I don't like not dressing cute.
How do you dress warm in the winter?
Happy Thursday!
XoXo,
AK

Oh this lovely Georgia weather...NOT! I haven't been feeling 100% either & I totally blame it on this weather. I took a couple "down days" this weekend and rested it out. It's FREEZING today...I'm ready for the warm, warm weather :)
"But, if it's 16 degrees outside, we need more than a dadgum cardigan to do the trick." I die! Favorite line ever! Yes, my cardigans are no longer doing the trick either!
