Free Samples

Where in the world did June go? I can't believe July is upon us and summer is half way over! I also can't believe I'm finishing up my first month at Chick-fil-A! It's been such fun so far! It is really astonishing to me the amount of people who turn down a free sample, though. And a free Chick-fil-A sample at that! If  I'm standing outside in the 95 degree Georgia heat, sweating my makeup off to offer you a free sample, the least you could do is roll down your window and acknowledge me! Or better yet, just take the stupid peach milkshake so I can go back inside! Somehow, Sam's Club never has a problem with people not taking their free samples.

The first week, I really took advantage of creating my own schedule. I would stay up late and then sleep late. It was blissful, but not a good cycle to get started. I did manage to get 38 hours though, which isn't bad, but I probably could have gotten in more if I didn't think 3AM was a good bedtime, of course.
I was beyond nervous the first couple of weeks. I was terrified of the unfamiliar place, and all of the unfamiliar faces. Working with high schoolers is a new adventure for me and it freaked.me.out. I have this theory in my mind that all high school kids are stuck up and judgmental, which makes me nervous.  Of course, that's all in my head, but it sounds like a good theory to me. All of the managers said during the first week or so that I was so quiet. What?! They clearly had NO idea!

It might have taken the entire month of June, but thankfully the shell is broken and I'm much more comfortable. As our operator, Mr. John, says I've moved out of my box. (he says I used to stand in one place in the dining room and never move!)  I've figured out how to plan my days to get the amount of hours every week I need. I go to work with confidence that I know how to do my job, and do it well. The teenagers love me! Half of the night shift girls beg me to stay until their shift is over. Several of them comment every.single.day. on my outfits and how it's just not fair that they don't have my closet! (such a great boost of confidence for the girl who never has anything to wear!) I have an
"idea book" were I keep track of all of my marketing event ideas. I never go anywhere without it, because, well, you just never know when a great idea might come about!  And, I've learned that once you program your brain to say "my pleasure" after someone says "thank you," you say all.the.time. to everyone!

My team members are just the nicest, and I find myself more thankful everyday for this opportunity  God has blessed me with!

Happy Tuesday!
XoXo,
-AK
